Gold is a metallic element that is little soft but when mixed with some metals or non-metals becomes hard . It has the valency of 3 or 1 . Au is the symbol of gold . Many elements like sulphur(S) , iron(Fe) etc have valency of 2,6 and 1,3 respectivly .
